Privacy Policy

We collect only the information needed to run Readless and deliver the features you request.

• Account information. If you sign in, we may collect your email address, email verification status, Apple Sign In identifier, and basic account profile information.
• Subscription information. If you purchase a subscription through Apple, we receive subscription status, product identifiers, transaction identifiers, renewal state, and expiration dates. Apple handles your payment details directly.
• Content you import. Readless processes URLs, pasted text, PDFs, images, prompts, follow-up questions, summaries, tags, and generated podcast scripts or audio that you request through the app.
• Technical and usage information. We may collect IP address, device or app version, request IDs, timestamps, error logs, and service events needed to secure and operate the product.
• On-device data. The app may keep local cache data, login tokens, and settings on your Mac, including secure storage in Keychain where appropriate.

We use information to provide, maintain, and improve Readless. This includes:

• authenticating you and keeping your session active;
• extracting, summarizing, indexing, translating, and transforming content you ask us to process;
• generating AI podcasts and storing audio files for playback;
• verifying subscriptions and handling account support requests;
• monitoring reliability, debugging failures, enforcing rate limits, and preventing abuse.

To run Readless, we rely on a small number of infrastructure and AI vendors. Depending on the feature you use, imported content and related metadata may be processed by:

• OpenAI-compatible model providers for summarization, search, translation, and other AI generation tasks;
• ElevenLabs for text-to-speech podcast generation;
• Cloudflare R2 and related infrastructure providers for storing generated audio and delivering the website;
• Resend for transactional email such as one-time login codes or verification emails;
• Apple for Sign in with Apple, App Store subscriptions, and receipt validation.

These providers process data on our behalf to the extent needed to provide the service you requested.

We keep account, content, and subscription data for as long as needed to operate your account, provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Generated content may remain stored until you delete it, your account is deleted, or retention is no longer necessary for service operation. Local app cache on your Mac may remain until you clear it from the app or uninstall Readless.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these limited cases:

• with service providers and subprocessors described above;
• to comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests;
• to protect the rights, safety, security, and integrity of Readless, our users, or the public;
• as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, subject to applicable safeguards.

• You can choose what content to upload and should avoid submitting highly sensitive personal data unless you are comfortable with cloud processing.
• You can cancel paid subscriptions through your App Store account settings.
• You can clear local caches from the Readless app.
• You can request account deletion or data deletion by contacting us at [email protected].

Readless and its service providers may process data in countries other than your own. By using the service, you understand that data may be transferred to and processed in locations where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Readless is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will investigate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date on this page.
